Thunderbirds sweep doubleheader against Wild

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Thunderbirds earned a doubleheader sweep of the New Hampshire Wild in Empire Professional League Play Saturday at Chip Cummings Field.

The Thunderbirds improved to 21-11 with 4-3 and 9-2 wins.



The Thunderbirds jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning.

Plattsburgh extended its advantage with another run in the fifth, and the Wild threatened with three runs in the sixth inning.

But New Hampshire was unable to score the game-tying or go-ahead run.

Adam Tricarico led the Thunderbirds with two hits, including a double, and Jordan Scott added a double of his own.

Kezlin Douglas picked up the complete-game win, allowing three hits and two runs on four walks and five strikeouts.

Taylor Olmstead, Simon Palenchar, Danny Muller, Mohammed Hussein and Robbie Kellerman each recorded two hits apiece for the Thunderbirds.

Palenchar and Muller both had doubles.
