Fun Run Series continues today
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau will continue its Fall Fun Run Series Thursday, Oct. 7 at 5:15 p.m. at Cumberland Head State Park. Registration begins at 5 p.m. The runs are for youth ages 4-13 and their parents. Ages 6-under will be running a ¼ mile distance. Ages 7-10 will be running a ½ mile distance. Ages 11-13 and parents will be running a mile distance. The last run in the series will take place Thursday, October 14. The event is free. There will also be running tips for the participants. Meet the Cardinals Day set for Saturday
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau is sponsoring a Meet the Cardinals Day on Saturday when the Plattsburgh State men's soccer team hosts conference opponent New Paltz at 1 p.m. at the Field House Complex. The first 50 youth in attendance wearing their own team jerseys will receive a free "Go Cards" wristband. All children are invited to an autograph session following the game to "meet and greet" with their favorite Cardinals players. Children must be accompanied by an adult. In addition, the Plattsburgh softball program will be conducting a 50/50 raffle in financial support for Special Olympics of Clinton and Essex counties during the first half. Tickets are $1 each, $5 for an arm length or $10 for a wingspan. The winner will be drawn at halftime. The Cardinals and SO athletes will also play an exhibition contest at 11 a.m. that day at Cardinal Softball Park.
Castle Rollerski race to be held Friday
WILMINGTON — The 4th Annual NYSEF Whiteface Climb to the Castle Rollerski Race will be held Friday, Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. Athletes participating will include members of both the US Ski Team cross-country and Nordic combined teams, including NYSEF's very own 2010 Olympic Gold and Silver medalist, Billy Demong, plus athletes from the Sun Valley Olympic Development Team, Central XC Elite team, collegiate athletes and a strong field of junior racers.
The race is a 5-mile hill climb, freestyle technique, with an average eight percent grade up the Whiteface Memorial Highway, starting at the Whiteface Toll House and finishing at the Castle on the summit of Whiteface Mountain (elevation 4,867 ft). Day-of-race registration is from 7:30-8 a.m. at the Whiteface Toll House. Fee is $35. Visit www.nysef.org for details or call 946-7001.
Hockey Edge preseason clinic scheduled
PLATTSBURGH — The Hockey Edge Preseason Clinic is a six-session clinic over four weeks designed to get high school hockey players ready for the upcoming season. Clinic dates are Oct.18 from 8-9 p.m.; Oct. 24 from 8:15-9:15 p.m.; Nov. 1 from 8-9 p.m.; Nov. 8 from 8-9 p.m.; Nov. 11 from 9-10 p.m.; and November 14 from 8:15-9:15 p.m.

Speaker at Trout Unlimited meeting Tuesday
