3-on-3 basketball tourney July 9
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bueau will host the 11th-Annual Thomas J. O'Connor Memorial "Summer Hoops for Youth" 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, July 9 at the Government Center parking lot located on Court Street.
There is no charge to participate in the double-elimination tournament. Team check-ins are from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and games will begin at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented to the top three teams in each age group as follows: boys/girls 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18.
Three-person teams must pre-register by 5 p.m. on July 6. No day-of registration will be allowed. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The field is limited to the first 40 three-person teams to register. Co-ed teams and substitutions are not permitted.
To pre-register, submit an entry form with birth certificates and parental signatures to the youth bureau. Or go to www.clintoncountygov.com and click on Youth Bureau to print off a registration form. Complete and return it to the youth bureau with all supporting documentation so we have it by 5 p.m. on July 6.
The event is in honor of Thomas J. O'Connor, who was an active supporter of county youth recreation programs, particularly in the Dannemora area. Contact the Clinton County Youth Bureau, at 565-4750, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for more information.
Family hike offered by ADK
PAUL SMITHS — The Algonquin chapter of the ADK is hosting a family-friendly hike on the red dot trail around Osgood and Church Ponds Saturday, June 25. The hike is open to all ages and skill levels. Those who plan to attend should contact Peter Galvani at 561-5054 by June 23.
Run for Rosie to be held June 25
CADYVILLE — The 2nd Annual Run for Rosie will be held Saturday, June 25 at the Cadyville Rec Park on Goddeau Road. The run will be held in memory of Rose Rascoe Maynard. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the 1-mile run/walk starting at 9 a.m. and the 3-mile run at 9:45 a.m. The first 150 people to register will receive free admission. The registration cost is $10 with and proceeds will benefit STOP Domestic Violence and the Mission of Hope. For further information call Keith Bombard at 643-7807.
