Soccer officials to meet Tuesday

TICONDEROGA — The Westport Chapter of Soccer Officials will hold a meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Ticonderoga Elks Club. All those interested in officiating high school soccer this season are urged to attend.

Public skating, stick and puck set

PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center will be holding public skating and stick and puck this week.

Public skating will be held Monday through Thursday from 3:45-4:45 p.m., Friday from 5-6 p.m. and Sunday from 4-5 p.m.

Stick and puck will take place Monday through Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m., Friday from 7:30-9 p.m. and Sunday from 5-6:30 p.m.

Sheriff''s softball tourney still has openings

LEWIS — The Essex County Sheriff's Department still has two openings in its slow-pitch softball tournament Aug. 21-22 at the Mount Fay Rod and Gun Club in Lewis on Stowersville Road.

Proceeds to go toward the Essex County Sheriff's Scholarship fund.

Administrators' golf tourney Sunday

MALONE — The School Administrators Association of New York State (Region 7) will hold its annual golf tournament Sunday, Aug. 22, at 1:30 p.m., at the Malone Golf Club. The tournament is open to all.

The tournament raises scholarship funds for college-bound high-school graduates from Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties. Kevin Mulligan, former superintendent at Chazy Central Rural School, will be the honorary chairman of this year's tournament.

Tournament activities include longest drive, closest to the pin, putting contest and a hole-in-one challenge offering a prize of $10,000. There will be awards for winning teams.

ADK chapter lists 2 public outings

PLATTSBURGH — The public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club for the following outings,:

On Saturday, Aug. 21, the ADK is offering a biking trip from the Cumberland Head Ferry to the Winooski River via the "Local Motion" Weekend Bicycle Ferry. There are fees for the ferries.

This is a moderate 30 miles over mostly flat terrain. Bring helmets, snacks, sunscreen and water. Leaders: Mo and Brenda Towne, 563-1884. Rain date Aug. 22.

On Thursday, Aug. 26 the ADK is offering a hike to Owl Head Lookout, off Route 9N between Elizabethtown and Keene. This hike is easy to moderate. Bring lunch and something to drink. Leader: Anne Bailey, 563-5794. Call by Aug. 24.
