Champagne finishes fifth

ALBANY — University of New Hampshire senior Meg Champagne (Seton Catholic) had her highest finish at the America East Cross Country Championships held this year at the University at Albany.

Champagne's fifth-place finish earned her first team All-Conference.

This is her fourth consecutive time being All-Conference in cross country (eighth in 2018, 12th in 2017 and sixth in 2016).

Champagne's time of 17:13 was a new personal record for a cross country 5K.

UAlbany's Hannah Reinhardt was the overall winner in 16:45, and UNH took the team title with 30 points.

UNH has now claimed the America East Women's Cross Country Championship in 2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Seven titles is the most by any other current America East Cross Country program, and second-most of all-time.

Champagne has been part of the winning teams in 2016, 2017 and now in 2019.
