Rough Riders Rifle take First

PLATTSBURGH — The Rough Riders Rifle Team came in first place in both the Northern Division and Eastern Conference for week 1 of the National Rifle League season.

The Rough Riders fired a 1582 outshooting Barrington NH 1567 and Vankleek ON 1528 in the Eastern Conference.

Amy Visconti shot a 391 prone and this was the top junior score in the Nation. Her 395 in 4-Position was the top junior score in the Eastern Conference.

Peter Visconti (395, 4-P) and Paul Deslierries (396 prone) joined Amy as All-Stars this week.

Rob Rabideau (387) in fourth position was named a Senior All-Star for the Eastern Conference.

Holly Visconti and Lily Florence were named Junior All-Stars as part of the Junior Rough Riders.

PSU Softball to Host Winter Skills Clinic

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State softball team will host a winter skills clinic from Saturday to Sunday, Feb. 22-23, for youth softball players ages 8-18 years old.

Feb. 22 will be a fielding session clinic from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., while Feb. 23 will be a hitting session clinic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The price is $80 for one session and $140 for both sessions.

The Plattsburgh State coaching staff and team will be teaching the fundamentals with drills and games.

The staff will work with all participants to ensure that they walk away with more softball knowledge and skills than they walked in with.

The clinic will take place inside the Plattsburgh State Field House.

Checks and cash are the accepted forms of payment.

Checks must be made payable to "Plattsburgh State Softball."

Youth Free Throw Competition

CHAMPLAIN — The K of C Councils from Ellenburg, Mooers, Champlain and Rouses Point will be conducting their annual free throw competitions on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Northeastern Clinton Middle School gymnasium.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and shooting begins at 1:30 p.m.

All boys and girls aged nine to 14 will compete with other participants from their town, and there are separate contests for each age level as well as separate for boys and girls.

Age is determined by actual age on Jan. 1, 2020.

A parent or guardian must be present to sign the registration form.

Pre-registration is not required, but is helpful.
