29th annual Run for Jon publicized

PERU — The 29th annual Run For Jon will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 at 5 p.m. at Forrence Orchards on Mannix Road in Peru.

The event's goal continues to be about raising funds to be able to help North Country families with children in medical crisis. Last year's Run for Jon raised $5,000.

Registration begins at 3:30 p.m., and the event will start at 5 p.m. with the half-mile kids fun run. The 2.5-mile cross country run as well as the 1.25-mile non-competitive walk will follow at 5:20 p.m.

Entry fee is $10 per person, $30 per family and $2 for the fun run.

Pepper Open golf results

PORT HENRY — The inaugural Pepper Open was recently held at Moriah Country Club.

First place went to Tom, Frank, Eddie Pepper and Brian Remy, while Mickey, Butch, Nate Pepper and Dale won second. Third place was awarded to Chris, Wayne and Trevor.

Finney Sports/NCTA Singles Tournament crowns champions

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Tennis Association held its annual singles tournament this past weekend at Macdonough Courts.

The father-son duo of Thierry and Sebastian Bonnabesse captured two of the three titles with Alan Keswick winning the other. There were also three consolation champions recognized.

MEN'S OPEN (A) DIVISION

Thierry Bonnabesse lost a total of only six games on way to his 11th NCTA singles title. He defeated Rich Gottschall in the finals in a high-quality match.

The men's consolation champion for 2019 was Alex Rine, a victor over Kyle Gorman in the title match.
