Finney Sports/NCTA crown mixed doubles champs
PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Tennis Association held its annual mixed doubles tournament this past weekend at Macdonough Courts.
Both the A and B divisions had six teams enter and played a round-robin format. The top four teams moved on to the semifinals while the other two teams played for the consolation title.
The team of tournament director Karen Waterbury and husband Chris captured the A title with a win over the father-daughter team of Thierry and Tessa Bonnabesse.
The consolation victors were Rich and Olivia Gottschall, who defeated Alex Rine and Cydney Bond in a third set super tiebreaker after splitting two sets.

C. Waterbury and K. Waterbury def. Sebastian and Tonya Bonnabesse, 6-3, 6-2.

R. Gottschall and O. Gottschall def. Rine and Bond, 10-7 in third set super tiebreaker.
In an exciting final, the team of Seth Spoor and Kiley McFadden prevailed over the mother-son team of Phyllis and Austin Davis in a third set super tiebreaker.
The consolation winners were the team of Vaia Graves and Garrett Lemza, who won over Tom Pickering and his partner Nicole Nieta.
McFadden and Spoor def. Leigh Kennedy and Chad Moore, 6-2, 2-6, (10-7).
Davis and Davis def. Ron Garrow and Clare Cutaiar, 6-1, 6-3.
McFadden-Spoor def. Davis-Davis, 6-4, 3-6, (12-10).

A-C North schedule update
PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center has publicized its Stick-N-Puck and public skating schedules for the week.
Friday, Aug. 16, 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 18, 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 18, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Cornhole tournament set for Aug. 17
AUSABLE FORKS — Tournament officials have announced that the 32-team inaugural cornhole tournament sponsored by Loremans’ Sale Center is full for this Saturday, Aug. 17 at Billy Mitchell Memorial Field in AuSable Forks.
The pick-your-partner event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. with the use of eight sets of boards.
A warmup cornhole tournament at a cost of $5 per person for a random draw of a partner will begin at 2 p.m. with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. for both events.
There are a few entries left for the random draw tournament.

All teams for the pick-your-partner event must be checked in at the registration tent by 4:45 p.m. or the team slot will be given away to a team on a waiting list.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three-four teams.
The Dick Crahan Memorial concession stand will be open from 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
A music sound system will be playing throughout the day. Participants and fans may bring in coolers for the day. All proceeds made will be donated to the AuSable Valley baseball program.
