PSU fends off Sage, 2-1

PLATTSBURGH — Freshman Devin Lambe recorded one goal and one assist to power the Plattsburgh State men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Sage in non-conference play on Wednesday.

Lambe's tally in the 61st minute proved to be the game-winner.

Alberto Cannistraci cut the Gators' (2-2) deficit to 2-1 in the 72nd minute, but Sage was unable to net an equalizer.

Chris Robertson gave the Cardinals (2-3) a 1-0 lead with only 15:25 elapsed in the match.

Plattsburgh's Cameron Richards finished with a pair of assists, and Ryan Wilson made one save in net.

The Cardinals will host Skidmore at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

PLATTSBURGH — Two first-half goals proved costly for the Cardinals (3-1).

Virginia Charman and Leah Salzman each tallied for the fifth-ranked Panthers (4-0), and Middlebury's Ursula Alwang posted a three-save shutout.

Plattsburgh's Julia Ennis countered with seven stops.

The Panthers led shots on goal, 9-3.

The Cardinals will host Skidmore at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
