Peru, McBride shut out AuSable Valley, 4-0

CLINTONVILLE — Peru built a 3-0 lead in the opening 15 minutes, 21 seconds in its 4-0 win over AuSable Valley in boys Northern Soccer League play Thursday.

Jon Cote, Matthew Magaldi and Dylan Badger each tallied in the first half, and Ryan Furnia iced the game at 13:02 of the second stanza.

The Indians’ Michael McBride posted five saves to record a shutout.

“Peru was a faster team and controlled the first half with excellent passing,” Patriots coach Bruce Bourgeois said. “Alex Fournier kept it close with some phenomenal point-blank saves.”

Fournier totaled 12 saves for AuSable Valley.

The Red Storm’s Zachary Churco tallied seven saves, and the Cougars’ John Bulson earned a shutout.

Ryan Kavanaugh scored on a penalty kick in the second half to cushion Plattsburgh High’s lead over the Eagles.

“Tanner Estes and goalkeeper Alex Tuller did a great job of holding Beekmantown off the scoreboard (Thursday),” Hornets coach Chris LaRose said.

The Eagles’ Matt Wood recorded eight saves.

Ashton Guay and Logan Frenya each found the net for the Knights.

The Griffins’ Brandon Trombley tallied six saves.

PERU — Kelly Sarbou anchored the Indians with a pair of goals.

Peru’s Emily Beattie added one goal and two assists, while Hannah Meyers chipped in one goal and one assist.

The Indians’ Madisen Reynolds tallied in the second half, and Bri Brousseau totaled a 10-save shutout.

“We played with great energy (Thursday),” Peru coach Amie Chase said. “Taylor Heywood made some good plays defensively to stop AuSable’s big scorers, and Bri Brousseau made some key saves in goal for the shutout.”
