Myers, Liberty power Saranac past AuSable Valley, 2-1

SARANAC — Sydney Myers and Aislyn Liberty each tallied in the first half to lift Saranac to a 2-1 win over AuSable Valley in girls Northern Soccer League play on Wednesday.

Both Myers and Liberty were assisted by Olivia Davis.

The Patriots' Anna Staley scored in the second half to put AuSable Valley on the board.

The Chiefs edged the Patriots in shots, 15-7.

Payton Couture recorded four saves for Saranac, and Koree Stillwell turned away seven shots for AuSable Valley.

“AuSable is much improved and gave us a good battle,” Chiefs coach Mary LoTemplio said. “It was nice to come out on top.”

SARANAC LAKE — The Hornets' Haley Ladue notched a penalty-kick goal with 5:44 left to help Plattsburgh narrowly defeat the Red Storm.

Mackenzie Lawfer added 12 saves and a shutout for the Hornets.

Saranac Lake held a 12-8 advantage in shots.

PERU — Kya McComb's game-winning goal with less than 12 minutes remaining lifted the Cougars over the Indians.

Northeastern Clinton's Elle Prairie evened the score at 1-all, with an assist from Audrianna Hollister.

Both teams were scoreless until the Indians' Emily Beattie scored off an assist from Rylie Lukens just 5:09 into the second half.

“NCCS played a strong game (Wednesday), and they outplayed us on the ball,” Peru coach Amie Chase said.

“Bri Brousseau kept the game close with some great saves.”

ELLENBURG — Ashlyn Seguin scored the go-ahead goal for the Bobcats and provided an insurance goal in the span of four minutes late in the first half.

Brynne Gilmore opened scoring for Northern Adirondack at the 15-minute mark of the first half, and the Knights' Gillian Boule scored an equalizer 15 minutes later.

“Both teams played very well both offensively and defensively,” Bobcats coach Leslie LaBarge said. “NAC's defense was a solid force for Seton to battle through. NAC's offense worked the ball well through the midfield, and the Seton goalie made some key saves.”

Aiden Lambert totaled five saves to anchor the Bobcats.

Kennedy Spriggs finished with 16 saves for Seton Catholic.

WESTPORT — Anna Burdo scored twice, and Sydney Bisselle and Annette Stephens each tallied to lead the Griffins past the Eagles.

Bisselle opened scoring with an assist from Burdo at the 10-minute mark, then buried Burdo two in the back of the net to cushion Boquet Valley's lead to 3-0.

Chazy's lone goal was scored by Haley Lucas on a 30-yard direct kick in the second half.

“Our starters played well and all our substitutes came in and showed great improvement,” Griffins coach Paul Buehler said.

Abby Monty accumulated seven stops in the Boquet Valley nets.

The Vikings' Samantha Hayes earned a shutout and turned away five shots.

WILLSBORO — Two goals from Alyssa Summo and a tally by Emily Whitney propelled the Beavers over the Warriors.

Jenna Ford tied the game for Willsboro with 27:55 gone in the second half, but Keene battled back.

“Keene is a very athletic, well-coached team that plays hard for the full 80 minutes,” Warriors coach Chris Ford said. “We're young, and sometimes you learn more from the losses than the wins. I'm proud of how we kept battling."
