Miners, Cardinals advance to CVBL championship series

PLATTSBURGH — The Lyon Mountain Miners and 4th Ward Cardinals advanced to the Champlain Valley Baseball League championship series after going the distance in their respective semifinal matchups Sunday.

The best-of-three finale will begin Sunday, Aug. 11.

LYON MOUNTAIN — Ryan Criss drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the ninth inning to give the Miners a win in extra innings.

Lyon Mountain rallied from a 4-2 deficit with a pair of runs in the sixth.

The Miners’ Brett Juntunen had two hits, including a double, and Kaden Kowalowski received the pitching win in relief.

Marcus Lefebvre paced the Rockies with a triple and two RBIs.

LYON MOUNTAIN — Adam Goldfarb and Marcus Lefebvre led the Rockies with triples.

Champlain’s Dalton Castine and the Miners’ Kris Chase each had two hits apiece.

Goldfarb was also the winning pitcher.

PLATTSBURGH — The Cardinals’ Stephen Peryea hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach, and he was also the winning pitcher.

Peryea and CJ Worley each had two hits apiece.

Robby Knowles and Dalton Demarco each doubled for the Expos.

PLATTSBURGH — Tied at 4-4 after 4.5 innings, the Expos strung together three unanswered runs to score a come-from-behind victory.

Meron’s Mike Bordeau, Robby Knowles, Dalton Demarco and Mitch Senecal had two hits apiece.

The Cardinals’ Stephen Peryea, Joe Tolosky and Tom Neale also had two hits each.

Peryea hit a triple.

Billy Davis collected the pitching win.
