GLENS FALLS -- Laura Olcott and Casondra Collins combined on a perfect game as the Ticonderoga girls' softball team recorded a 7-0 victory over Fort Ann as part of a round-robin tournament Saturday in Glens Falls.

In their second game, the Sentinels ran their overall record to 5-2 with a hard-fought 5-3 victory over host Glens Falls.

Olcott was perfect over five innings, retiring all 15 batters -- 10 by strikeout. Collins got the final six outs of the game, including two by strikeout.

"We took Laura out after five innings because we needed her for the next game," said Ticonderoga head coach Shannon Huntington.

"She had a perfect game going and some players wouldn't have liked to come out. But, Laura showed she's a team player."

Jessie Kelly, Samantha Cawley and Olcott led Ticonderoga's 11-hit attack with two apiece. Kelly and Anna Besson each had a triple and two RBI.

Against Glens Falls, Olcott went the distance for the victory as she struck out 14, walked five and surrendered four hits.

Ticonderoga scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, with the help of five hits, to erase an early 3-2 deficit and take the lead.

Then, it got interesting in the bottom of the inning.

"Laura lost her control for a while and walked the first three hitters in the inning," Huntington said. "But, then she struck out the next three."

The Sentinels rapped out seven hits against Glens Falls, with Collins leading the way with two hits, including a triple and RBI.
