TICONDEROGA -- Plattsburgh did its best to come back against undefeated Ticonderoga in the seventh inning, but Hunter Denno shut the door to give the Sentinels a 6-5 victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action on Tuesday.

Steve Burris was cruising along for Ticonderoga, giving up just five hits and a pair runs, before running into trouble and a high pitch count in the seventh.

Denno came in with a one-run lead and runners on the corners with just one out, but was able to finish the game without any more damage to pick up the save and secure Burris' victory.

"Denno did a great job coming in and getting the last two outs -- the last one being a strike out," Ticonderoga head coach Dan Dorsett said. "It was a good game by both teams."

The Sentinels scored the all-important winning run in the inning before hand as Matt Streeter came around to score on Adam Pond's single.

"We left a lot of runners on base," Dorsett said. "But Plattsburgh did a good job at making the plays."

Pond finished with three hits and two RBI. Streeter added a pair of hits while Zach LaPointe belted a home run and Krys Ross a double.

Pat Shaghnessy led the Hornets with three hits, including a home run and a double.

Sam Purdom suffered the loss on the mound.
