4th Ward Cardinals sweep A’s

PLATTSBURGH — The 4th Ward Cardinals swept the 4th Ward A’s Sunday in Champlain Valley Baseball League action at Lefty Wilson Field.

In game one, the Cardinals plated 16 runs in the first inning en route to a 31-1 victory over the A’s in five innings.

Ryan Whalen earned the pitching win, striking out seven and allowing only four hits and one walk.

Four different Cardinals recorded an extra-base hit.

The A’s Andrew Kramer hit a double.

For game two, the Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first and defeated the A’s 8-0.

Kasey Favreau hit two home runs to lead the Cardinals.

SARANAC — The Cubs took game one as Austin Medeiros recorded six strikeouts and received the pitching win.

The Cubs totaled seven hits and scored five runs in the second inning to take a lead they would not relinquish.

For the Padres, Chris Markwica belted a double.

In game two, Adam Gallucci helped the Padres turn back the Cubs.

Gallucci threw a complete game and finished with three hits, including a triple to lead the way.

PLATTSBURGH — Russell Gallo (3) and Blake Gautreau (3) combined for six of the Expos’ 13 hits in game one.

Billy Davis received the pitching win, fanning seven and surrendering four earned runs and two walks.

The Dodgers’ Kevin Sousa finished with four hits.

In game two, the Dodgers came out on top behind Ethan King’s seven innings of four-hit ball. King struck out nine.

Hunter Bell tallied two hits for the Expos.
