Rolls, Hince honored by SUNYAC
FREDONIA -- The State University of New York Athletic Conference has announced that Plattsburgh State men's hockey student-athletes Nick Rolls and Bryan Hince have earned player and goaltender of the week honors, for the period ending Sunday. The Cardinals went 2-0 at home last weekend against SUNYAC competition, defeating Fredonia, 5-2, and Buffalo State, 4-2.
Rolls, a senior defenseman from Marysville, Mich., had a team-best five points on a goal and four assists. Four of his points came while the Cardinals were on the power play. He set up the eventual game-winning goal against Buffalo State.
A sophomore out of Tillsonburg, Ont., Hince stopped 53 of 57 shots he faced for a .930 save percentage to help No. 2-ranked Plattsburgh to a 3-0 record to begin the season.
Area boxers in action at Crete Saturday
PLATTSBURGH -- Boxing returns to the Crete Memorial Civic Center Saturday with at least 12 bouts on the New York vs. Vermont Adirondack AAU Trials. Action will get under way at 7:30 p.m.
The featured bouts will include Plattsburgh's Jaci Trivilino taking on top-ranked and two-time National Golden Gloves champ Christina Cruz. Trivilino is a 2007 national champion and a 2008 silver medalist.
Unbeaten heavyweight Shawn Miller, an Empire State gold medalist, is also on the program against a fighter to be named.
Local boxers seeing action against the Vermont AAU team include Patrick Clauss (80 pounds), Rocco Clauss (138), Sam Moura (140), Brian Clookey (195) and Zack Morey (60).
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $20 for ringside. Children under 12 will be admitted free.

Dannemora sets basketball registration
DANNEMORA -- The Dannemora Youth Commission will hold basketball registration Nov. 17, from 6-7 p.m., at the village office, 121 Emmons St. The program is for girls and boys, grades K-6.

Airborne banquet of champions Nov. 14
ALTONA -- The Airborne Speedway Banquet of Champions will be held Friday, Nov. 14 at the Rainbow Wedding and Banquet Hall in Altona.
Honorees include 2008 Ernie's Tools Modified champion Patrick Dupree of Saranac Lake, J&S Steel Sportsman champion Bucko Branham of Plattsburgh, and Lonnie Rivers, Butch Lamere and Randy Martin, champions of the Renegade, Warrior and Bomber classes.
Individual achievement awards as determined by ballot will be announced and the top 15 competitors in each division will be presented trophies.
"We've increased the number of trophy presentations because the contributions of the competitors in the 10-15 position range were very instrumental in our having a successful season this year," promoter Mike Perrotte said.
Banquet tickets ($30) are available to anyone interested in attending, but must be purchased by Monday, Nov. 10, by calling the Speedway office, at 561-3208.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner beginning at 7 p.m. Awards and dancing will follow.
PSU Kids' Night Out slated for Saturday
PLATTSBURGH -- The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team will host its final Kids' Night Out of the semester, Saturday, from 5-9 p.m. It is for children ages 6-13 and will include sports, games, arts & crafts, movies, and swimming.
