Basketball camp dates announced

PLATTSBURGH — ​The second week of the FUNdaMENTAL Basketball Camp at Seton Catholic will run from July 22 to 26.

As of this writing, there are only two openings left.

Applications will be honored on a first come, first serve basis.

There will be a waiting list in case an opening becomes available for the second week of camp and also the first week of camp, July 8 to 12.

Price for new campers is $140, while returning 2018 campers will pay $120 for the week.

The coaching staff will once again include Chris Castine, Ryan Loucy, Mike Castine and Gary Castine.

All staff members are teachers, have coaching experience and have also had Virtus training.

Camp will again be available for students entering grades four through 12 and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the doors opening at 8:15 a.m.

There will be two instructional games played daily and drill stations.

Campers will receive a basketball, T-shirt and an accurate camp evaluation.

FUNdaMENTAL Basketball Camp has the distinction of being the longest running camp in the North Country under the same tutelage.

Armstrong tops weekly time trial

POINT AU ROCHE — Ed Armstrong took first place at this week’s Point au Roche time trial with a time of 26 minutes, 35 seconds.

Stacey Brooks (29:35) and Stephen LaFave (30:35) rounded out the top three.

The time trials take place on Wednesday nights at the Point au Roche firehouse on Lakeshore Road.

The event is open to all novice and experienced riders, road bikes or mountain bikes.

Helmets are mandatory, and all riders must obey the rules of the road.

Registration begins around 5:30 p.m. with the first rider going out at 6 p.m.

Riders interested in the 25-mile event should be prepared to start between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.

Golf tournament July 27

PLATTSBURGH — The 16th annual Jeff and Michelle Hall Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, July 27, at The Barracks Golf Course.

All proceeds will go to the North Country Regional Traumatic Brain Injury Center at SUNY Plattsburgh.

The event is a four-person scramble and will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

The cost is $65 for non-members and $50 for members, which includes cart, shirt, refreshments on the course and a BBQ at Bobby’s Lounge following the tournament.

There will be numerous raffles and giveaways.

If you would like to play, please pick up an application at Bobby’s Lounge.

Also, for those interested in sponsoring a hole or making a raffle prize donation, contributions can be mailed to 55 Trafalfar Drive, Plattsburgh, New York, 12901, or dropped off at Bobby’s Lounge.

For every $50 donated to the event, donors will receive an entry into a sponsors only raffle for a vacation week at Orange Lake Resorts in Orlando, Florida.

This year’s goal is to raise $15,000.

A-C North weekend schedule

PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center has announced its schedule for the weekend.

Stick-n-puck will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

A public skating session will occur from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Fathers skate free.

Lacrosse tournament

PLATTSBURGH — The annual Air Raid Lacrosse Tournament will take place Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It will be taking place on the U.S. Oval.

This year, it will have 49 teams participating.

Teams will range from groups: Boys grades 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th 5th-6th, U15 and girls U12 and U16.
