Mitchell, Fessette lead Graymont bike series
CADYVILLE "" Charlie Mitchell and Derrick Fessette turned in the fastest times in the sixth and final race of the 2007 Graymont Mountain Bike Series Tuesday.
Mitchell covered the two-lap race in 47 minutes, 20 seconds while Fessette had the fastest time in the one-lap event, 29:45.
In the two-lap race, Chris Rose was second in 51:05, followed by Andy LaPlante, 52:00; Bruce Bunn, 56:22; and Nikki LaPlante, 61:45.
Tom Moffitt was second in the one-lap event with a 30:53 time. Jim Kobak was third in 31:38.
AuSable Valley fall sports meetings tonight
CLINTONVILLE "" AuSable Valley Central School will hold its preseason parent/athlete/coaches meetings today for all junior varsity and varsity sports, from 6:30 - 8 p.m., and on Aug. 21 for all modified sports, from 6:30-8 p.m.
Parents/guardians and athletes will have a chance to meet their respective coaches and receive information regarding preseason practices. Medical examination and/or medical review sheets will be collected that evening.
PFC raffle tickets, money due by Saturday
PLATTSBURGH "" All Plattsburgh Football Clubraffle tickets and money is due by Saturday. Players who have not turned in their raffle tickets and money, doso today at the tryouts from 4-7 p.m., at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse.

Plattsburgh FC Soccer tryouts tonight
PLATTSBURGH "" The FC Soccer Club will hold tryouts today with a rain date set for Thursday. The tryouts will be held at the Plattsburgh State Field house soccer complex.

Barkeaters fall in Can-Am Rugby tourney
SARANAC LAKE "" The Adirondack Barkeaters rugby team participated in the 34th Annual Can-Am Rugby tournament this past Sunday for the second consecutive year.
The Barkeaters hosted Motley Side, a team composed of players from around the country, including five from New Jersey and Michigan. The Barkeaters played a strong game with Motley Side, but fell 12-5. Kaleb Provost was the lone scorer for the Barkeaters.
Soccer United girls to hold second tryout
PLATTSBURGH "" The Soccer United Girls' Premier team will hold its second round of tryouts at the Parc Oval on the old base Aug. 13, with a rain date of Aug. 14.
Any area girls interested in trying out are encouraged to attend. There will also be open registration for any U-8 girls interested in playing indoor soccer.

Red-hot Foley goes for third win Saturday
PLATTSBURGH "" George Foley of Saranac Lake enters Saturday's Dick Nephew Memorial at Airborne Speedway on a roll and in pursuit of his third Ernie's Tools Modified win. Foley's second win came in early July. He has since added three consecutive second-place finishes and he leads his closest rival, Martin Roy of Napierville, Que. (535-474)

Family canoe/kayak day trip planned
PLATTSBURGH "" The Algonguin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) will sponsor a family canoe/kayak day trip to Bear Pond on Saturday, Aug. 11. Short paddling with two short carries will bring the group to Turquoise Lake for swimming. All are welcome.
