Peru wrestlers compete in tourney

CLAYTON "" Peru finished with a 2-2 dual match record this weekend at the Thousand Islands Junior High Wrestling Tournament. There were 17 teams that competed in the junior high division of the tournament, which also featured high school teams.

Peru, which consisted of 10 wrestlers from Peru and two from Saranac, dropped a 49-10 decision to the Holley All-Stars, who ended up winning the event. Peru then recorded a 58-9 win over Penfield and a 29-28 victory over Nazareth, Pa. before falling to Bath, 33-32, in its final match.

Members of the Peru team included: Saranac's Austin Latulip (80 pounds) and Trevor Goddeau (86), along with Peru's Jacob Goddeau (92), Arik Robinson (98), Troy Seymour (105), Kenna Agoney (112), Pappy Hogan (119), Anthony Harding (125), Codey Agoney (135), Adam Stickle (145), Brandon Allen (152) and Dennis Rose (heavyweight).

Robinson and Hogan led the way by each going 4-0, while Seymour, Agoney and Stickle all posted 3-1 records.

Cardinal Goal-Scoring Clinic begins Monday

PLATTSBURGH "" The Cardinal Goal-Scoring Clinic will be held at Plattsburgh State University Monday through Friday, August 6-10, It will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. on the ice and then 11:15 a.m.-noon with dry-land training.

Boys and girls ages 11-16 will develop their shooting and passing skills, along the learning the game through small-sided games. The cost is $200 for individuals and $175 if you bring a friend. Walk-ins are welcome.

Churubusco truck, ATV pulls set for today

CHURUBUSCO "" The Churubusco Fire Department will hold Street Legal Truck Pulls and ATV Pulls on Sunday.

Street Legal Truck Pulls registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and the pulls start at 11 a.m. ATV pulls registration starts at 11:30 a.m. and the pulls will start immediately after the truck pulls. Participation is open to the public.
