Junior golf club championship
PLATTSBURGH — The Bluff Point Junior Golf program wrapped up its 2019 season with a two-day club championship Monday and Tuesday in three age groups.
In the 15-and-over group, John Glover (Seton) came in first with Alex Lawliss (Peru) taking second.
In the girls division, Alivia Waldron (Saranac) won, narrowly losing out to John Glover for overall low.
In the 13-14 age group, Dominik Nuzzo (Peru) came out in first, while Ben Welch (Beekmantown) took second.
In the girls division, Tekla Fine-Lease (Willsboro/Seton Catholic) came in first followed by Julia McCormick (Peru) in second.
In the 12-and-under age group, Marina Kane (Beekmantown) came out first in the girls division followed by Ava Glover (Seton Catholic) taking second.
In the boys division, Ryan Campbell (Peru) came in first followed by Nick Palmer (Beekmantown) in second.
Plaques will be presented to first and second for boys and girls in all divisions as well as a special Gil Burnell award to John Glover.
A total of 41 young golfers took part in the five-week junior golf program.
Upcoming soccer clinics
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau will be hosting several instructional soccer clinics this summer.
Youth from throughout the county are encouraged to attend any of these free clinics.
These clinics will be conducted as followed.
Athletes of all ages and abilities are invited to attend.
Coaches are encouraged to send their entire teams.

Military Night at Airborne
PLATTSBURGH — Bonus racing action will be taking place Saturday at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway.
The Super Stocks and Strictly Stocks will take part in double features, making up for last weekend’s rain-shortened event.
In addition, the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman and Novice Sportsman will be on the racing card.
The North Country Honor Flight will also be attending to recognize the current Honor Flight members.
Post time for the event is scheduled for 7 p.m., with grandstands opening at 5 p.m.
Admission prices are set at $12 for adults.
Active and retired military members with proper identification and kids age 12 and under will be free of charge.

Moonlight paddle down Saranac River
SARANAC — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks and Recreation Department is doing a Moonlight Paddle down the Saranac River.
The trip is Wednesday, Aug. 14, on the Saranac River starting at the Saranac Boat Launch, 192 Bowen Road in Saranac, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. down to Cadyville Beach.
During the moonlight paddle, each participant will get a light stick to put on their boat.
Town of Plattsburgh Parks and Recreation Department kayaks are already spoken for but participants are free to join with their own kayaks.
Classes are limited to the first eight participants.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

Men’s soccer to host ID clinic
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State men’s soccer team will host an ID clinic on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Field House Complex.
The cost is $100 per registrant.
The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to noon and will involve a college-level training session, including technical, tactical and physical training.
Players will experience what sets Plattsburgh State men’s soccer apart through the training and interactions.
The clinic will be instructed by the current coaching staff as well as current student-athletes on the team.
After the clinic, participants are invited to stay and watch the Cardinals play a 2 p.m. home game against Clarkson.
