Seton Catholic downs Lake Placid in B-ball action

LAKE PLACID — Alex Coupal poured in 23 points, including five three-pointers, to power Seton Catholic to a 56-40 victory over Lake Placid in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference non-division boys' basketball Monday night.

Tom Murray added 15 points and Foster Ovios 12 for the Knights, who held a 33-23 halftime lead.

Nick Marvin tossed in a team-high 18 points for the Blue Bombers, followed by Zach Gavin with 10 and Jack Armstrong, nine.

ELIZABETHTOWN — Aidan Lopez connected on a trio of three-pointers and finished with 26 points to lead Keene to a victory.

Sebastian Smith chipped in with 16 points for the Beavers, who took a 25-20 advantage into the half.

Blake Liberi led the Griffins with 17 points and Brandon Tromblee was next with 16.

“Keene jumped out to a 16-2 lead to start the game and we spent the rest of the game trying to dig out of that hole,” Boquet Valley coach Colby Pulsifer said.

“With about two minutes left to play, we cut their lead to five points, but that was as close as we could get.”

CROWN POINT — Cody Crammond finished with a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds to power the Panthers.

Thomas Woods had a career-high 12 points, while Cameron Harrington was solid on both ends of the floor contributing 10 markers.

Caleb Hughey was a bright spot in a losing cause with 15 points and Anthony Galle added 11.

“Stingy defense led us to victory,” Crown Point coach Jason Hughes said. “We have placed an emphasis on the defensive effort at the beginning of both halves and we did that tonight.

“We won the first quarter, 20-3, and the third quarter, 23-2, allowing us to put the game away.”

Ethan Rohling led a balanced attack with 13 points, while Aidan Halloran and Trevor Lehr each added eight for the visitors.

Byron Stuart and Matt Richards paced Wells with 10 points each and Daniel Johnson added eight.

SARANAC LAKE — Nora Glover tossed in a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds to lead the Red Storm to victory over the Wildcats.

Kelsey Leeret picked up 12 points and Alex LaDue added seven points for Saranac Lake.

“I thought our guards had a solid game and when we shared it we got a chance for everyone to get some good looks,” Red Storm coach Chad LaDue said. “We came out and had our best quarter of the season taking a 19-4 lead, then Schroon Lake did the same in the second quarter.”

Schroon Lake's Malena Gereau recorded 12 points, and Kayli Hayden and Dakotah Cutting each added six points for the Wildcats.

“In the second half we got back on defense and made them beat us five-on-five, and our defense was the key to closing out the game,” LaDue said.
