Section VII wrestling title up for grabs

PLATTSBURGH — Saranac will look to sweep team honors this season when the Section VII Wrestling Championships are held Saturday at Beekmantown Central School.

The Chiefs went unbeaten in winning the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championship and are gunning to dethrone Peru as Section VII team winner.

Last year, Saranac won the CVAC title, only to have Peru come out on top in the sectionals.

Saturday's schedule include: weigh-ins from 8-9:30 a.m.; coaches meeting at 9 a.m.; wrestlers report to the mat at 9:30 a.m.; first round begins (1 mat) at 10 a.m.; semifinals (1 mat) at 10:30 a.m.; consolation finals for third and fourth place at noon; and championship finals at 1 p.m.

Admission, which is set by Section VII, is $5 for adults and students all day, and $5 for adults and students for finals only.
