PLATTSBURGH -- Canadian Martin Roy will try to land the JE Fortin Transport/Gamache Truck Center No 90 Modified in victory lane for the third week in a row in tonight's Budweiser 30-lap main event at Airborne Speedway. Two weeks ago, Roy trailed Ernie's Tools Modified point leader George Foley of Saranac Lake by 61 points. But Roy's second and third wins of the season have helped trim Foley's advantage to 16 points.

In a tribute to their open wheel, open cockpit racing roots, the Modifieds will remove their roofs -- go topless -- in tonight's action, and the drivers' response to Airborne's corners and each other will be visible for all to see.

Next Saturday, Sept. 1, the Modifieds will compete in the extra-distance Plattsburgh Quarries 100. The following Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., Airborne hosts the $3,000-to win Adirondack Scrap Metals Enduro 200.

Todd Baker of Enosburg Falls, Vt. and David Mitchell of Colchester, Vt. filed the first Enduro entries. Mitchell's vehicle of choice is a '91 Buick Century. Rules and Enduro entry forms are available at the Airborne ticket booth and can be obtained at www.airbornespeedway.net or by contacting the Speedway office at 518-561-3208.

Post time tonight is 6 p.m. Front gate opens at 4 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for kids 6-12 (five and under free of charge) or $20 per family (two adults, two kids). Airborne Speedway is located on Broderick Road just off Rte. 22, one mile south of I-87 exit 36.
