LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Adirondack Lakes Pony Club II took top honors in the C level Division and third in the Senior D Division at the Western New England Quiz Rally held March 2, in Middlebury, Vt. The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. announced the results over the weekend.

In addition, Elizabeth Wallace, Alexis Sims, Corine Giroux and Parker Sims (C Division) and Gabrielle Southwick (Senior D Division) qualified individually for the National Championships to be held July 24-27 in Lexington, Va. The girls are trying to raise funds for the week-long, 800-mile trip. If anyone would like to make a tax deductible contribution to ALPC, contact Holly Sims, District Commissioner, at 563-5908.

Members of the first place team are Elizabeth Wallace, Alexis Sims, Corine Giroux and Parker Sims. Members of the third place Senior D-level team are Victoria Southwick, Alexis Hamilton and Bianca Carrasco while Gabrielle Southwick was part of a mixed 2nd place team.

Teams from Vermont and New York competed for top honors. The contest was designed to measure their knowledge in the areas of horse management, horse sports, anatomy/physiology, nutrition and riding. Expertise in these areas is needed to compete in Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing, Tetrathlon and equestrian games.

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. (USPC) was founded in 1954 as a non profit national youth organization to teach riding and horsemanship through a formal educational program.
