Peru takes down Northeastern Clinton, 3-0

PERU — Marie Higgins and Julia Prescott recorded double-doubles in Peru’s 3-0 defeat of Northeastern Clinton Thursday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference volleyball.

Higgins had 14 kills and 13 points, while Prescott totaled 16 points and 11 digs.

Lauryn Clary added 24 assists for the Indians.

Camryn Foley (12), Morgan Monette (10) and Kelsey Ganache (9) combined for 31 digs on the Cougars’ side.

SARANAC LAKE — Katie Gay racked up 23 points and 12 assists to lead the way for the Red Storm.

Maddie Gay also totaled a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, and Sydney Andronica finished with 22 digs.

Madison DuBray and Abigail Breyette had 10 digs apiece to help the Chiefs’ cause, and Mikayla St. Louis showcased a balanced effort with nine digs, eight kills and seven assists.

LAKE PLACID — Madison Campbell piled up 17 points and 11 aces to propel the Patriots to a three-set sweep.

Dylan Bashaw totaled eight aces, seven assists, six points and six digs to lead the Blue Bombers.

Lake Placid coach Sandy Huber said her team made some adjustments as the match progressed, including Sara McKillip’s suggestion to change the Blue Bomber’s serve reception formation.

“By the third set, we were playing the way we can, and it was great to see the girls relax and have fun on the court,” Huber said. “It’s still early, and we have a lot of potential if we keep working hard.”

BEEKMANTOWN — The Eagles’ Jenna Begor accounted for 19 points, 12 assists, six aces and six digs.

“Beekmantown served and received the ball very well all night, giving the setters, Elizabeth Hynes and Alexys Hawks full control to run the offense,” Beekmantown coach Kaylen Fessette said. “And the offense responded with multiple players attacking the court. Jenna Begor, Erin Gregory and Hynes controlled the service line keeping NAC off balance.”

Anna Brown’s five points, five digs, three aces and three assists led the Bobcats.
