Pelkey paces Schroon Lake over Chazy

SCHROON LAKE — Andrew Pelkey poured in 27 points and Schroon Lake pulled away early for a 72-41 win over Chazy in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball Wednesday night.

Collin Bresnahan also hit in double figures for the Wildcats with 11 points.

Devin Therrian was the lone Chazy player to reach double digits with 18.

“It was good to see the boys bounce back from a poor effort on Monday,” Schroon Lake coach Lee Silvernail said. “Cian (Bresnahan) has done a great job of running this team from the point position.

“Devin Therrian had a great second half for Chazy. He was a handful down low, and both his effort and tenacity really stood out tonight.”

Boquet Valley's Brandon Tromblee controlled the paint and had 20 points, and Brayden Drew chipped in with 17.

Moriah held the Eagles to seven points through the first 24 minutes of the game.

"I thought we played very well defensively," Vikings coach Steve Pelkey said. "We were very focused on that side of the ball. The girls communicated well and played the passing lanes the best that we have all season."

Sage Baker notched a game-high eight points for Moriah, while Gwen Eichen had seven points and eight boards.

Zoe Olcott pulled down nine rebounds, and Avery Briggs dished out five assists.

Kiera Regan totaled six points for Beekmantown.
