TICONDEROGA -- Northeastern Clinton scored a stunning sweep of Ticonderoga Thursday and, in the process, handed the Sentinel boys their first dual-meet setback in three years in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys' track & field.

Kasey Garrand was a three-time winner as the visiting Cougars defeated the Sentinels 72-59. Ticonderoga had won 18 straight dual meets and two CVAC Div. II championships since losing to Tupper Lake, 68-64, on May 18, 2004.

Bobby Grim, Connor Herdic, Kyle Chambers and Ryan Sample were each two-time winners for Northeastern Clinton.

Lee Berube captured both the 1,600 and 800 runs while Shawn Ross and Patrick Dunn also won two events each to pace Ticonderoga.

Alanna Cruz captured three victories as the NCCS girls completed a grand trip south with a 75-46 triumph. Cruz won the 800 and 1,500 races and also picked up a first in the 3,200 relays.

Shalyn Austin chipped in with a pair of wins, including a first in the high jump, as Northeastern Clinton swept the field events.

Connie Belkevich paced Ticonderoga with three victories, in the 200, 400 and 1,600 relay.

SARANAC LAKE -- MikeMartin and Hannah Sporn led Saranac Lake to a sweep of AuSable Valley.

Martin took both sprints and ran with the winning 400 relay team to lead the Saranac Lake boys. Sam Racette captured both hurdles events while Ben LeBlanc and Curt Casler each picked up two firsts in the relays.

The Red Storm swept the triple jump and 1,600 and dominated in the hurdles.

Justin Capen was a triple winner for AuSable Valley. Capen picked up firsts in the 400, 800 and 3,200 relay while Kyle Devins won the long jump and added a first in the 3,200 relay. Matt Hamilton also doubled, in the 3,200 relay and 3,200.

Sporn swept the dashes and the 400-meter hurdles to lead the girls to victory. Heleni Kuma doubled in the throws while Heather Nashett won the 800 and 3,000 for the Red Storm.

AuSable Valley took the 3,200 relay and the triple jump with Lindsey Keyser.

SARANAC -- The Chiefs had four different athletes capture three events as they rolled past the Blue Bombers.

Jason Pageau, Josh Mockus, Brandon Jenks and Justin Bryant led the way for Saranac with three wins apiece. Brian Mockus, Ben Depo and Nate Williams each chipped in with a pair of victories.

On the girls' side, Leanne Raudenbush, Erin Trombley and Alex Farrington led the Chiefs with two wins apiece.

Saranac received help from a multitude of athletes who had one victory on the day.

Heidi Baumbach paced Lake Placid with wins in the 1,500 and 800.

PLATTSBURGH -- Seth Bombard won two races and helped win two relays to lead the Seton Catholic boys past the Indians.

Bombard won the 1,600 meters in 4:59.4 and the 800 in 2:13.2, and he was part of the winning 3,200 and 1,600 relay teams.

Mike Champagne finished first in the 3,200 run with a time of 10:40.6 and was on the 3,200 relay team. Jacob Relation placed first in the 100 (11.7 seconds) and the 200 (24.8), and Shao Ma earned victories in the long jump (15-91„4)and the triple jump (34-111„2).

On the girls' side, Holly Black won the 100 in 13.4 seconds and helped Peru win the 400 relay and the 1,600 relay. Jessica Millett threw 28 feet to win the shot put and 78 feet, 111„2 inches to take the discus.

Mary Kate Champagne of Seton Catholic won the 400 and the 3,000, and Genna Hartung took first in the 800 and the 1,500. Champagne and Hartung were both also part of the Knights' winning 3,200 relay squad.

In Tuesday's meet for Peru, Justine Bardelcik won the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 1 1/2 inches. The distance was incorrectly reported.
