MALONE --The Malone softball team faced its toughest competition of the season, but came through late to defeat Norwood-Norfolk, 8-6, in Northern Athletic Conference softball on Tuesday.

The game was locked at six in the sixth inning when Haley Poupore knocked in the eventual game-winning run with an RBI single. Paige Brower added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.

Poupore finished with two hits while Meaghan Patterson went 2-for-3 with a double. Emily Sharlow had a pair of RBI and Erica Johnson knocked in one.

Patterson, in relief of Ashley Marshall, struck out seven and allowed one hit over three innings to capture the victory.

Courtney LeVac led the Flyers with a double while Hanna Roy and Kari Frego each finished with a hit.

LeVac struck out five and walked two in a losing effort for Norwood-Norfolk.

CHATEAUGAY -- Brooke Sharp and Lindsey Thomspon rapped out two hits apiece and combined for four RBI to lead the Yellowjackets past the Bulldogs.

Sharp was successful on the hill as well, tossing a complete-game five-hitter.

Chelsea LaBare paced the Bulldogs (3-5) with two hits.
