Malone falls to Canton

MALONE -- Canton used the big play to blank Malone's Franklin Academy, 29-0, in Northern Football Conference play on Saturday.

The Huskies' defense played tough throughout the first half and force the Golden Bears to turn the ball over twice on downs.

But, it was a pair of Malone penalties, one of which was a pass interference call of the final Canton drive of the half, that helped lead to the first score.

Ramsey Locke found Sam Bradman on the left side and Bradman ran past the Huskies' defense the final 10 yards for a 29-yard scoring play.

Malone had a golden chance to score before the end of the half following a 36-yard run by Evan Bannon that brought the ball to the Canton 21-yard line.

Canton's Jordan Brown then made an outstanding play to tip Corey Picaro's pass away to save a touchdown. And, on the final play of the half, Locke came away with an interception.

Malone successfully pulled off an onside kick to open the second half, but Aaron Pierce intercepted a Picaro pass on the Canton 20. On the Golden Bears' first play from scrimmage, Bradman made some dazzling moves to gallop 80 yards for a touchdown.

Canton added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter -- Pierce from 20 yards out and Nick Butler from 28.

This coming weekend will be Hall of Fame Weekend when the Huskies host Gouverneur.
