Juntunen, NAC shut out AuSable Valley

ELLENBURG — Brett Juntunen struck out nine and allowed only four hits to help Northern Adirondack defeat AuSable Valley, 3-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball Friday.

Lucas Smart and Casper LaBarge had a hit apiece for the Bobcats.

“Brett Juntunen had an RBI sac fly in the first and then pitched a great game,” Northern Adirondack coach Dennis LaBarge said.

“Catcher Kayden Guerin and shortstop Cody Lambert had strong defensive games.”

For the Patriots, Evan Snow and Troy McDonald both had a hit.

MINEVILLE — Jacob Shipman hit two singles, and Ben Munn recorded a triple and a single to lead the Red Storm over the Vikings.

Shipman was also the winning pitcher.

Saranac Lake scattered 11 hits.

Brayden LaValley received the win on the mount for Northeastern Clinton.

“Northeastern Clinton played well and got the job done,” Eagles coach Dave Manney said. “For us to be successful in the future, we need to be more consistent at the plate and tighten up our defense.”

“Emily Beattie pitched well using her changeup to keep hitters off balance,” Chiefs coach Sam Campbell said. “Peru hit the ball better and played better defense than we did. We made too many mental mistakes.”

Kalli Gebo belted a homer for Saranac.
