Hornets secure 3-1 victory

BURLINGTON, VT — The Plattsburgh High girls hockey team defeated Rice Memorial, 3-1, in non-league play Friday at Leddy Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Gillian Boule put the Hornets on the board with a goal in the first minute of the second period.

Mackenzie Brown came through at the 5:12 mark to give Plattsburgh a 2-0 lead, but Rice's Celine Moriarty scored at the 14:15 mark.

Reylen Giroux notched the final goal in the third period just seven seconds in to grant the Hornets a victory.

“Our girls played smart and applied a lot of pressure for three full periods,” Plattsburgh coach Trevor Cameron said. “Our power play is one area we will continue to work on as a team as we went 0-2 in the game (Friday).”

The Plattsburgh High girls team will play Hanover High School from New Hampshire today at 4:30 p.m. at Leddy Arena.
