CHAZY -- It will be a gathering of Eagles in the championship game of the Chazy Preseason girls' soccer tournament Friday evening.

Beekmantown defeated Chateaugay 7-0 while Chazy turned back Salmon River 5-0 to set up a meeting of the two Eagles outfits for Friday at 7 p.m. Chateaugay and Salmon River will meet in the 5 p.m. consolation game.

Lauren Gonyea scored three goals and assisted on another to lead Beekmantown to victory.

Bailey Waterbury, Alissa Momot, Lauryn Menard and Rosi Cummings also scored for Beekmantown with Megan Rivers credited with two assists.

Kelley Lucia made five saves to record the shutout. Amber Wilcox had 19 saves for Chateaugay.

Chazy, state co-champion in Class D, got goals from five girls to open its season on a winning note.

Victoria Reynolds, Shauni Trombly, Madelaine Guay, Morgan Roussy and Brigid Daul all scored for Chazy with Caitlyn LaPier getting two assists.

Alys Lyons made two saves for the shutout. Amber Debyah had 18 stops for Salmon River.

Center-midfielder Guay, stopper Devin Latremore and sweeper Daul had strong games.

SARANAC -- Sophomore Samantha Ashline opened the scoring and freshmen Amanda Hamilton and Cammey Keyser scored their first varsity goals to lead AuSable Valley to a 3-0 victory over Saranac Lake in the first round of the Saranac Invitational Tournament.

Zoey Saulsgiver had two assists while Keyser also picked up one.

Jesse Walton made nine saves in goal with Jenna Finnegan coming up with four stops in 15 minutes as the two combined for the shutout.

"It was a good first game. We have a really young team and it was good to see the younger kids step up," AuSable Valley Coach Keith Raines said.

Brooke Pray and Alexis Coolidge also stood out at sweeper and stopper for the Patriots.

Rhonwen Jones and Cayla Cluckey played well for Saranac Lake in a losing cause.

AuSable Valley will take on Saranac for the championship tonight at 6:30. The consolation game is at 4:30.

Saranac spotted Willsboro a 1-0 lead midway through the first half before rallying with newcomer Megan Bowman scoring twice and Melissa Doherty, once, for the Chiefs.

Megan Jaquish put Willsboro up at 23:53, but Bowman answered with her first less than a minute later.

Doherty gave Saranac the lead with an unassisted tally 16:58 into the second half and then Bowman added an insurance goal at 21:09.

Courtney Blanchard scored with 10 minutes to play to cut Saranac's lead to a goal, but Willsboro was unable to get the equalizer.

Liz Tedford made four saves in goal for Saranac with Stephanie Burrows making 11 stops for Willsboro.
