SIMSBURY, Ct. -- Former Seton Catholic standout Anders Franzon scored a goal and assisted on two others Friday as the Champlain Valley Elite Junior A Developmental Team opened play in the Hartford Junior A Hockey Tournament with a 5-2 victory over the Northern Connecticut Wings.
Landon Lavictoire added a goal and assist for the Elite, while Robert Guay, Eddie Slade and Nick Certo also scored. Leslie Lavictoire picked up an assist.
The Elite jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half.
The Wings scored two quick goals in the second half to make it 4-2 before Landon Lavictoire added the finishing touch for Champlain Valley.
Dennis Harrsch and Patrick Bilan shared goaltending duties, with Harrsch playing the first half.
"I'm real happy with the effort," said Elite general manager/head coach Justin Frechette. "The players did everything that was asked for.
"We went 50 percent on our powerplay and took only two penalties in the game. We got our cycle going down low and set the tempo for the game.
"This was a good game for us to build on heading into our two games (Saturday)."
