ELIZABETHTOWN -- Elizabethtown-Lewis held on Thursday afternoon.

The Lions recorded an 8-7 victory over Willsboro in the opening round of the Section VII Class D boys' baseball playoffs.

Elizabethtown-Lewis held an 8-4 lead heading into the top of the seventh. But the Warriors scored three times to pull to within one run before E'town-Lewis got the final out.

"Michael Gowdy did a great job in relief in the sixth inning and we had two outs in the seventh, with one runner on," said E'town-Lewis coach Jim Ratliff. "Then, the wheels began to come off.

"They scored three runs to get to within a run, But, our catcher Tyler Barton threw out a runner trying to steal third to end the game."

Anders Nielsen paced the Lions' 15-hit offensive attack with three hits, including a double.

Josh Mowery, Garrett Hume, Justin Quain, Steven Plank and Scott Morris all added two hits apiece.

Ricky Sayward, Matt Sayward and Alex Shepard paced the Warriors with two hits each. One of Ricky Sayward's hits was a triple.

Schroon Lake 13, Chazy 8

CHAZY -- Ethan Tyrrell struck out 13 batters to lead the Wildcats to a victory over the Eagles.

Kyle Bush cracked a pair of hits, including a double, for the Wildcats while Tyrrell helped his own cause with a pair of singles.

Chazy hurt itself with nine errors in the contest.

Jason Baker and Andy Goodwin each finished with two hits for the Eagles.

INDIAN LAKE -- The fifth-seeded sqaud from Indian Lake/Long Lake had an easy time of it as they knocked off Wells.

Jordan Monthony struck out nine, walked two and allowed just one hit in the victory.

Chris Bain led the way with a 5-for-5 day, including a triple and a double, with five RBI. Jordan Wallce added four hits with a double, David Andrews and Andy Snide each had two hits, with Andrews connecting on two doubles.

Jeff Reynolds went 2-for-2 with a double and Tom King belted a triple, a double and had four RBI.

Rob Bush had the lone hit of the game for Wells.

NORTH CREEK -- Michael Couzens knocked in the tying runs in the bottom of the seventh and then scored the winner to lift the Jaguars to a comeback victory in the Class D playoffs.

Josh Harvey earned the win in relief.

Keene's Nate Woods belted a three-run homer in the sixth, and the Beavers led 15-13 after the top of the seventh.

Keene's Jacob Earl hit a double.
