Lavander Ward led the Saints to a hefty victory over the Lazers with five three-point goals and 29 total points in a non-conference game Saturday.

“I was very pleased with how we defended the basketball today,” North Country coach Jerrad Dumont said. “Most importantly we stuck together as a team and really shared the basketball offensively.”

Kayla Carder (22) and Talesa Campbell (13) combined for 35 points for the Saints.

“Kayla Carder and Lavender Ward carried the offensive load tonight, while Damoni Wells and Lauren Denny combined for 24 rebounds,” Dumont said. “Talesa Campbell controlled the tempo of the entire game from the point guard position.”

Amber Meigs led Onondaga with 14 points, and Kaitlyn Walker and Tynasia Williams each scored eight points for the Lazers.

North Country led, 47-29, at halftime and totaled nine three-point goals.

“We also got into some foul trouble and got great minutes from our bench,” Dumont said. “I think that we will improve as a team as our bench improves.”
