Cougars lose two Region III games

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton Community College women's basketball team fell to Onondaga Community College, 94-43, in a Region III game Sunday.

“We came out of the locker room and played really well. Unfortunately, we couldn't keep up the pace,” Cougars coach Donna Dixon said. “We did a great job breaking their press and getting to the line but only shot 12-21.”

Paige Chilton came through with a game-high 20 points for Clinton, and Katelyn Karleski grabbed a team-high 17 points for the Lazers.

““Paige had 10 rebounds and 10 blocks for a triple-double,” Dixon said. “They (the Lazers) are tall and deep and just kept pressuring us which really hurt us in the second half.

“They also got really hot from the outside in the second half and made seven out of their 10 (3-pointers).”

Julianna Gardner and Tiona Parker each scored six points for the Cougars, and Kaitlyn Walker totaled 16 points for Onondaga.

“Two tough games over the weekend but very proud of the way we competed,” Dixon said. “We make some free-throws and maybe the outcome would have been better.”
