On a day that would make any sail-maker happy, the Valcour Sailing Club held the Naked Turtle Cup race, one of the Sunday Series races held by the club over the summer.

The race is a prelude to the Clinton Community College Regatta on Aug. 21, which will be sailed in the waters below the Community College. For more information, go to www.valcoursailingclub.org or email jmeschinelli@pressrepublican.com.

Of the five boats that started, only three finished in conditions that ranged from mid teens to lower 20-knot wind speeds and waves that were from 2 to 4 feet. Although the Beneteau 44.7 Galilee, took line honors by over 12 minutes, Dave Bashaw's Sound Wave won the race, with a corrected time of 3 hours and 6 minutes, followed by JP Turgeon's Galilee, with a time of 3 hours 8 minutes.Don Duley's TBD rounded out the finishers with a time of 3 hours and 10 minutes.

One boat retired before the start and one retired during the race due to equipment failures.
