Cards win in Oswego

OSWEGO — It's been rare this season, but No. 1 Plattsburgh State found itself trailing a game early.

The Cardinals (15-1-0, 11-0-0) fell behind when Oswego's (9-4-1, 6-3-1) Megan Teachout put one in the back of the net just 5:20 in, but Plattsburgh trailed for less than a minute.

Taylor Whitney scored 32 seconds later, and the Cardinals went on to defeat the Lakers, 3-1, in a Northeast Women's Hockey League game.

Annie Katonka scored the game-winner with 43 seconds remaining in the second stanza, and Nicole Unsworth added on an insurance goal at the 11:11 mark of the third period.

Ashley Davis came away with 13 saves for Plattsburgh, and Rachael Farmer turned away 34 shots in the Oswego nets.
