HUDSON FALLS -- Ticonderoga's Shawn Ross and Seton Catholic's Genna Hartung turned in winning efforts Saturday in the H.G. Moran Invitational track & field meet at Hudson Falls.
Ross won the shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 7 1/2 inches and placed fifth in the discus with a heave of 132 feet, 3 inches.
Hartung won the girls' 1,500 meters with a fully-automatic time of 4:56.17.
Ticonderoga's Connie Belkevich placed third in the 400 meters in 1:07.69 while AuSable Valley's Kyle Devins leapes 20 feet, 2 1/2 inches to take third in the boys' long jump. He also placed eighth in the triple jump with a 38-11 effort.
Patrick Dunn of Ticonderoga came in fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles with a 16.65 time while the girls' 4x100-meter relay team of Belkevich, Elsie Phillips, Alexandra Reale and Ainsley MacAlpine placed fifth in 53.16 seconds.
Ticonderoga's Brad Woods was seventh in the 400 with a 56.21 time.
Several Seton Catholic runners achieved personal-bests or significant performances.
Freshman Alexa Cosgro, in her first pentathlon, scored 1,869 points to place sixth among the girls while Jarad Whiteman, also trying the pentathlon for the first time, tallied 1,783 to finish 14th for the boys.
Seth Bombard, who placed 13th in the 1,600 with a 4:51.08, had a personal-best in the 800 with a 2:06.78. Michael Champagne also had a best in the 1,600 with a 4:54.45 and Zach Ziemer, a best in the 800 in 2:24.06. Ziemer also ran a 5:19.26 for the 1,600. Jacob DeWitt had a personal-best of 12:07.43 in the 3,200.
Other Seton Catholic times were: Rhea Breyette, 14.09 in 100, 29.41 in 200; Andrea Maynard, 30.27 in 200; 67.83 in 400; Mary Glenn, 3:12.42 in 800, 6:15.64 in 1,500.
Jacob Relation, 12.94 in 100, 26.09 in 200; R.J. Marte, 27.95 in 200, 1:02.69 in 400; Sean Masten, 1:01.40 in 400; Justin Bressette, 2:45.83 in 800.
