Lake Placid tops Seton Catholic, 4-1

PLATTSBURGH — Eliza Barney's goal at 7:31 of the first half proved to be the game-winner in Lake Placid's 4-1 win over Seton Catholic in girls Northern Soccer League play Thursday.

The Blue Bombers, clinging to a 2-1 lead at halftime, pulled away in the last 40 minutes with tallies from Natalie Tavares and Emma Adragna.

“Lake Placid has a good all-around team, and I was very happy with how we played against them on our Senior Night,” Knights coach Ariel Masten said. “We have been adjusting to a couple of big injuries on our team, and I’m very impressed with how our team is stepping up into new roles and new positions.”

ELLENBURG — The Bobcats' Ashlyn Seguin tallied in the second overtime period, and Madi Seguin scored twice in the first half.

“The game was very well played, and both teams fought for the win until the final overtime minutes were played out,” Northern Adirondack coach Leslie LaBarge said. “NAC played well on both ends of the field and was able to control the defensive end.

“Boquet Valley tried to capitalize on the through ball and made some very impressive runs to score. (Aiden) Lambert had a sound game in net for NAC.

“We were able to work through the tie score to come out ahead. Both teams should be very proud of their performance on the soccer field (Thursday).”
