Hornets defeat Hanover

BURLINGTON, VT — The Plattsburgh High girls hockey team took home another victory in Vermont with the defeat of Hanover, 7-1, in a non-conference game Saturday.

The Hornets' Amanda Vaughn and McKenzie Brown each scored two goals in the defeat of the Marauders.

Vaughn secured her goals in the first period along with a goal by Morgan Reid to give Plattsburgh a 3-0 lead.

At the 4:46 mark of the second period, Avery Holland cushioned the lead for the Hornets with a goal.

Reylyn Giroux and Brown each secured a goal in third period before Hanover got on the board with a goal from Mary Lee at the 13:33 mark.

Brown scored the final goal of the game at the 14:45 mark, effectively granting Plattsburgh the win.

“It's a big week coming up, so we're getting ready for that now,” Hornets coach Trevor Cameron said. “Overall the coaching staff was very proud of our girls effort all weekend long.”
