Moriah's Sarah Slattery (14) and Sara Rancour (15) defend against Lake Placid's Mackenzie Kemmerer during a Section VII Class C girls' soccer semifinal game Wednesday at AuSable Valley High School. The Blue Bombers won in penalty kicks.

Paige Spittler scored the only goal of the game Wednesday night and Seton Catholic held on for a 1-0 victory over Northern Adirondack in the Section VII Class C girls' soccer semifinals.

The win sends the Knights into next Thursday's title contest at AuSable Valley against top-seeded Lake Placid, which had to go to penalty kicks to eliminate Moriah in the other semifinal.

"We had split our regular season meetings with NAC and I knew it was going to be a battle," Seton Catholic coach Jason Fenner said."

Shannon Egan assisted on Spittler's game-winning goal, which came 26:51 into the first half. Spittler was in the center when she found the net inside the far post.

"Even though we took the lead, it didn't deflate NAC," Fenner said. "Instead, it seemed to bring out the best of them.

"They were pushing forward the last 10 minutes of the game. With about three minutes left, there was a big scramble in front of our net, and I don't know how Shannon (Olsen) came up with the save.

"But we've been stressing consistency, and we were able to get the shutout tonight. I have to give my defense credit because we have been struggling with similar things."

Olsen finished with 10 saves for the second-seeded Knights, and Jesslin Golovach stopped 11 shots in net for the third-seeded Bobcats.

"Golovach played a fantastic game for them," Fenner said.
