Randolph scores twice in the last minute of the first half and pulls away to a 41-0 victory over Moriah in the state Class D football championship game.

Bailey Waterbury and Amanda Peterson collect 4 points each as the Chazy girls open the hockey season with a 7-0 thumping of Ithaca High School.

Plattsburgh State sweeps St. Lawrence University in basketball. Carl Munnerlyn, returning from a shin injury that cost him an entire season, comes off the bench to score 23 points in the men's 90-86 victory while Molly Harte hits for 18 and Taylor Amarando, 16, in the women's 50-48 triumph.

Clinton CC doubles up on Paul Smith's College. Anthony Hodge collects 18 points, 6 steals and 5 assists in a 78-54 victory while Jelissa Curry tallies 13 points and Brittany Godreau, 11, as the CCC women wallop the Bobcats 68-14.

Cody Armstrong nails a 3-pointer with one second showing to lift Schroon Lake to a 52-51 victory over Chazy. Armstrong finishes with 23 while Brennan Bush chips in with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Rick Osier leads Chazy with 13 points.

Kyle Lovejoy's 54-second pin in the final match of the night seals a 40-33 victory over Beekmantown in a season-opening showdown of the two mat powers. Hayden Head (285) scores Beekmantown's lone pin enabling the Eagles to win the first 5 matches. Jacob Goddeau (103) gets Peru rolling as the Indians win 8 of the last 10 matches.

Tim Burke of Paul Smith's claims a silver medal in the biathlon in World Cup competition in Sweden. 

T.J. Burl scores all 7 of the Patriots points in overtime to lift AuSable Valley to a 66-63 win over Saranac Lake. Jordan Coolidge leads the Patriots with 20 points while Brody Douglass drops in 19 and Burl, 16. Connor Gach nets 19 for the Red Storm with Austin McDonough netting 13 and Logan Ploof, 12.

20 YEARS AGO (1999)

Katie Castine scores 19 points and Allison Vosh, 18, to lead the Plattsburgh State women to a 71-56 win over Potsdam State. Former Beekmantown standout Katie Munson nets 11 for the Bears.

The McDougals of Peru — Josh, Jordan and Drew — earn AAU All-America honors in cross country.

Sophomore Andrea Kilbourne leads the Princeton women’s hockey team in scoring with 8 goals, 8 assists.

Mark Favro, Cliff Conners and Trevor Waite each score 2 goals as Plattsburgh High opens the hockey season with a 6-3 win over Lake Placid.

Nate Bilow sinks 31 points and Daron Tracy, 29, as Chateaugay defeats host NAC 84-63 in the Bobcat Shootout final. Travis Belrose leads NAC with 27.

Josh Brooks and Steve Yaeger each tally 13 points as Saranac beats Peru 68-63 in the Big Blue Hoop Final, overcoming Nate Newton’s 32-point effort.

Bryant Butler scores 18 points and Greg James, 16, to lead Plattsburgh State in a 115-67 rout of Lyndon (Vt.) State.

Missy West fires in 40 points to spark Malone to a 62-34 win over Chateaugay. Lissa South nets 11 for the Bulldogs.

Casey Colburn scores twice and adds three assists to lead Plattsburgh High to a 5-3 victory over Lake Placid in the championship of the PHS-CSO Original Four Hockey Tournament.

Danielle Devins comes off the bench to score 10 points in the first half, spurring Plattsburgh State to a 67-65 win over Oneonta. Monica Rodriguez adds 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals while Kerry Chapin leads Oneonta with 19 points.


Jared Facteau (135), Mark McGwire (140) and Pat Clancy (145) lead Saranac to a sweep of Mount Mansfield and Missisquoi Valley Union in wrestling.

Sparky Baillargeon scores 3 goals and gets an assist as Lake Placid ices Syracuse CBA 6-3 in the Glens Falls hockey tourney final.

Kim Anderson makes 4 of her 14 points in overtime to give Crown Point a 56-52 win over Beekmantown in girls’ basketball. Nikki Santose also nets 14 while Christine Beebie leads the Eagles with 16.

Jamie Bluteau scores 24 in Malone’s 78-48 win over Brushton-Moira. Rob Trim leads the Panthers with 16.

Scott Campbell scores twice and Paul Pendleton picks up 3 assists as Seton Catholic rallies to beat PHS 5-4. Shawn Rascoe has 2 goals for the Hornets.

Wayne Kelly scores 20 points to lead St. John’s past Northern Adirondack, 61-57, in the Bobcat Shootout championship. Tourney MVP Jon Ford has 26 points and 33 rebounds for two games.

Charlie Grogan scores 18 points and Kevin Walbridge, 13, to lead Malone past Peru 50-39.
