Stephen Peryea sets American Legion Post 20 records with a .486 batting average and 53 hits while teammate Scott Mitchell swipes a Post 20 record 27 bases for the season.
Chris Waterbury's goal in the second overtime gives Chazy-Giroux's a 3-2 win over Chateaugay Bowl for the North Country Soccer League championship. Rob McAuliffe and Jim Guay also score for Chazy while Bob Ouimet accounts for the Chateaugay goals.

Carol Pearl, in her first triathlon, finishes a strong third behind nationally known triathletes Joan Fahey and Jane Banks in the Plattsburgh YMCA Y-Tri.
Chazy leaves the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, dropping a 10-9 decision to Shannon's of Newark in the Class A Mid-Atlantic Women's Slo-Pitch Softball Championships.
Junior Mauran records six wins in one day of harness racing at the Essex County Fair in Westport.
Millie Jo Q, driven by Jack Hargett, breaks the 38-year-old Essex Fair trotting record with a time of 2:08.0.

Pat Dillon cracks a 3-run homer and Roger Pratt adds a 2-run shot to send the Saranac Lake Rotary Club on to a 6-1 victory over the Malone Americans in the final of the Saranac Lake Little League tournament. MVP Lyle Curry chips in with 3 hits.
Lori Roppelt, Bernie Corbett, Peggy O'Connell and Sue Amell each get 3 hits as Bill Santa Pontiac pounds The Monopole 24-5 to complete a sweep of the Women's City Softball League championship series. Linda Byrne belts a 3-run triple for The Monopole.
Dave Collins collects 3 hits as Plattsburgh Paint & Glass defeats the Police 10-5 to cap a sweep of their City Babe Ruth championship series. Mike LaBarre, Steve Parrish, Jeff Hall and John Broderick contribute 2 hits apiece.
Sciota, coached by Peter Seguin, finishes 10-0 in Babe Ruth softball with Peggy Warren posting a 6-0 record and 85 strikeouts. She also finishes with a .527 batting average and 21 homers over four years in which Sciota went 49-4. Lisa Barcomb, Betsy Trombley, Penny Jennette and Julie Barcomb all bat above .400.

Fort Hamilton of Brooklyn pulls out a 1-0 victory to end Post 20's hopes of repeating as New York State American Legion baseball champions. Post 20 outhits Fort Hamilton 8-4, but an error and walks hurt Plattsburgh in the final. Mitch Pajonas has a triple and Tim O'Connell, a double, for Post 20.
Leo Connick improves his record to 10-0 and helps his cause with a home run as the City Police defeat Plaza Barbers 10-3 in Gentlemen's Slo-Pitch Softball League play. Steve Ducatte goes 3-for-4 for the Barbers.
Lefty Miller hits his 18th and 19th homers of the Little League season to break the record of 17 held by Jeff Burns.
Steve Kaufman and Bobby Meconi each drive in two runs as Sharkey's Riverside Hotel tops Keeseville 8-1 to win the AuSable Forks Fast-Pitch Softball League crown.
Tom Matton rips a homer and a triple while Skip Drake homers and Randy Lashway gets 3 hits as the Altona peewees beat Chazy 19-6.
