BINGHAMTON — Kaden Myers held Johnson City Post 1305 to only three hits, as the Clinton County Mariners scored an 8-1 win at the Hall of Fame Classic Friday in Binghamton.
Myers struck out nine in six innings, and the Mariners broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the fourth.
They built a 7-0 lead in the sixth inning.
Dyllon Bougor had a game-high three hits, and Bailey Marsh, Ethan Garrand, Bougor and Dominick Bordeau each doubled.
“It was nice to play mistake-free baseball,” Clinton County coach Gary Duquette said.
“We are capable of beating anyone when we have days like this.
“Kaden Myers picked us up with a great start, and he had command of all his pitches right from the beginning.
“Dylan Garrant started us on our roll with a squeeze bunt in the fourth inning, and the entire lineup contributed to the win.
“We had good defense all day, and Ethan Garrand and Jesse Izzo were standouts.
“Hopefully, this carries over to (Saturday) when we get a crack at Oneonta at noon.”
