Big third inning boosts Cougars

PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Cougars 17U baseball team scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning Wednesday night on the way to a 10-4 win over the Vermont Jays 16U team.

Brayden LaValley, Ben Norcross and Noah Gonyo all pitched for the Cougars, with Norcross picking up the victory. The trio combined on a four-hitter with eight strikeouts

Eight Cougars had at least a hit, with Sam Bulson leading the way with two singles. Hunter LaValley and Gonyo each added two-run singles, while Angel Claudio chipped in with a RBI hit.

The first six Champlain batters scored in the third, with Hunter LaValley and Gonyo getting the key hits.
