Friend to credit unions

TO THE EDITOR: On behalf of the New York Credit Union Association’s Adirondack Chapter, I would like to express our sincerest appreciation to Rep. Elise Stefanik for the opportunity to meet with her during our Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.

Though she is very busy, we are grateful to her for taking the time to talk with us about the regulatory issues facing credit unions today.

While Rep. Stefanik has been in office, she has been a valued friend and trusted partner to credit unions, seeking the industry’s input and keeping us informed.

Rep. Stefanik has campaigned on a platform of job creation, economic opportunity for small businesses in Upstate New York and reducing the tax and regulatory burdens facing small businesses.

We would like to recognize the leadership role that she has taken on behalf of credit unions and her support for the Financial Choice Act of 2017 (H.R. 10), Tailor Act of 2017 (H.R. 116), Community Institution Regulatory Relief Act of 2017 (H.R. 3971) and most recently signed into law, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S.2155).

It’s clear that Rep. Stefanik understands the important role that credit unions play within our communities and, more importantly, to our members.

I would like to sincerely thank Rep. Stefanik for her leadership and continued support of the credit union industry. Her voice is truly helping to make a difference.
