Spruce It Up a Little

Kindergarten teacher Kelsey Marvin helps steady a wooden birdhouse as kindergartner Annola Provost (center) and her sixth-grade mentor, Kari Nixon, hammer nails into their creation during the annual Community Spruce Up Day at AuSable Forks Elementary School. Every grade participated in the third-annual effort to give back to and beautify their community. Along with creating birdhouses, various grades did their part by painting rocks, creating and cleaning flower beds, picking up trash at the Black Brook and Jay parks and assisting the AuSable Forks Volunteer Fire Department and EMS Service with cleaning their vehicles and bays. Local businesses like Dustin Frederick from Mountain Man Construction, Ward Lumber, Pray’s Family Farm and Joy Walking Gardens and the towns of Black Brook and Jay donated their time and such materials as wood, seeds, mulch and much more.
