Scenes from the North Country: Hoarfrost

This was the scene along the Saranac River near Saranac Lake Friday morning when the temperature dipped to near 20 degrees below zero. Water droplets crystalize and form little frozen hair-like objects that cling to the branches of a bush. In old English, that’s called hoar frost. The water crystals came from the nearby Saranac River. All in all, it paints a picture worth looking at.
