KEESEVILLE -- A local man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly trying to get painkillers with a forged prescription.
Keeseville-based State Police said Christopher M. Rock allegedly forged a prescription for Vicodin and attempted to get it filled at a local pharmacy last week.
Pharmacy officials contacted police about the fake prescription and the 39-year-old was later taken into custody on a single charge of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Rock was released after posting $2,000 cash bail and is expected to return to court in early June to face the charge.
MINEVILLE -- Police said an alcohol-related ATV accident left a local man injured and facing a felony charge.
Essex County Sheriff's officials said Joseph F. Tefoe, 45, of Mineville was driving an ATV on the Pilfershire Road Saturday when he toppled off the recreational vehicle after rounding a bend in the road.
Officials said Tefoe hurt his shoulder when he was thrown from the ATV and was taken to Elizabethtown Community Hospital where he was treated and released.
He was later ticketed and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Officials said he is scheduled to appear in the Town of Moriah Court at later date.
BURLINGTON -- A North Bangor teen is improving from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident last weekend.
Joshua J. Cartier was driving his motorcycle on Route 19 in Bangor Saturday night when he rounded a curve in the county roadway and careened into a fence.
State Police said the 19-year-old was initially transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center, but was later transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in critical condition.
He was listed in good condition at the Burlington hospital Wednesday afternoon.
